Oxford Circus Underground Station (Central, Bakerloo and Victoria Lines), 12 April 2024.
Oxford Circus Underground Station (Central, Bakerloo and Victoria Lines), 12 April 2024. The station consists of three separate stations now all interlinked. The first station was built by the Central London Railway (CLR) on its original route from Corn Street (now Bank) to Shepherd’s Bush opened in June 1900. The station was designed by Harry Bell Measures, consultant architect to the CLR. It is Grade II listed. The station was built strong enough to bear a building above and in 1908 an office block of four storeys was constructed on top of the station, which the CLR subsequently decided to occupy as its HQ. The architect was Delissa Joseph. These offices are also Grade II listed. The second station was built by the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway (BS&WR), commonly known as the Bakerloo Railway, on its original route between Baker Street and Lambeth North opened in March 1906. The station was designed by the Architect of the Underground Electric Railways of London (UERL), the great Leslie Green. It is Grade II listed. The third station was built by the London Transport Board for its new Victoria Line and opened in March 1969 on the Walthamstow to Victoria section. It had no surface buildings only new platforms which were linked to the Central and Bakerloo platforms and a new sub-surface ticket hall which replaced the surface ticket halls of the Bakerloo and Central Line stations. However, the surface buildings of those two Lines were retained but as exits only. Major renovation work on the Central and Bakerloo stations took place in 2007 restoring many original features in replica form. Oxford Circus: Location and Local Orientation

Oxford Circus Underground station is recorded by TfL at Oxford Circus Station, Oxford St, London, W1B 3AG. Use Oxford St and postcode W1B 3AG to anchor your taxi or cab enquiry rather than a broad neighbourhood name. Its Underground fare-zone reference is 1; a Tube fare zone does not set the price of a taxi or minicab.

The closest other Underground station positions in this directory are Bond Street (0.55 km), Goodge Street (0.79 km), and Piccadilly Circus (0.80 km). Those figures are straight-line distances calculated from TfL coordinates, not walking routes, station interchanges or journey-time estimates.

The published station postcode falls in the Westminster local-authority area (West End ward). These postcode boundaries are administrative references; use your actual street destination when arranging a minicab.

Named Places Around Oxford Circus

Named green-space landmarks around Oxford Circus include Hanover Square Garden (public park or garden, approximately 0.17 km to the mapped boundary); Golden Square Gardens (public park or garden, approximately 0.49 km to the mapped boundary); Grosvenor Square Gardens (public park or garden, approximately 0.69 km to the mapped boundary). These are straight-line distances derived from the TfL station position and Ordnance Survey’s April 2026 mapped site polygons. A boundary can be much closer than a usable entrance: these figures do not describe walking routes, road access or a place for a driver to wait.

If your journey ends at Hanover Square Garden, give its own entrance or street address when booking. A taxi booking for the Underground station identifies a different destination from the surrounding park, grounds or sports site. Confirm visitor arrangements with the site before travelling. Luggage, Access and Your Minicab Meeting Point

The station’s captured TfL facilities reference includes escalator facilities listed. Check current access with TfL if stairs or the final walk affect your journey: these are dated facilities references, and a facility listing alone does not establish a complete step-free route.

For a minicab at Oxford Circus, give your actual entrance or nearby address, arrival line and luggage count. Agree a permitted road meeting place; the station address and photograph are location references, not waiting instructions.

Airport Taxi Planning from Oxford Circus

For an airport cab from Oxford Circus, start with the station collection address and the airport terminal, rather than only “London airport”. Piccadilly Circus is an example of a Piccadilly-line interchange shared with the Bakerloo network; use TfL’s planner to compare that rail option on the day. A dispatcher must separately confirm the road journey, price, vehicle and any airport charges.

Local Taxi & Minicab Questions

Where Should I Identify My Oxford Circus Taxi Pick-up?

Use Oxford Circus Station, Oxford St, London, W1B 3AG as the station reference, then agree the precise road meeting point and entrance with the operator. Include the entrance you will use when arranging the collection. Agree the meeting place before travel.

Which Tube Lines and Neighbouring Stops Help Identify Oxford Circus?

The station is listed for Bakerloo, Central, and Victoria. Bakerloo route context includes Piccadilly Circus and Regent's Park. Central route context includes Bond Street and Tottenham Court Road. Victoria route context includes Green Park and Warren Street. Check current stopping patterns and branch destinations with TfL.

What Should I Check Before a Minicab Connection with Luggage at Oxford Circus?

TfL’s snapshot lists escalator facilities listed, but current availability and the full access route still need checking. Tell the operator your passengers, bags and any practical accessibility or child-seat requirements. Ask the dispatcher to confirm vehicle suitability separately from station access.

Is Hanover Square Garden the Same Collection Address As Oxford Circus Station?

No. OS lists Hanover Square Garden in its public park or garden category, with its boundary approximately 0.17 km in a straight line from the TfL station position. That does not identify a visitor entrance or a permitted road meeting point. Specify the station or the site and agree the actual street address.
